The iPhone Dev Team announced that they will hold off on launch of their jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.0 3GS as expected Apple to close the hole in its next iPhone OS 3.1.
Here is our step by step guide on how to jailbreak your 3G iPhone with Redsn0w for Mac users Windows users can checkout this guide.
Before you start some important points:

This guide shows you how to jailbreak iPhone 3G, not to activate it.

As with any trick, please proceed with caution, as jailbreaking your iPhone may void your warranty.
Step 1: Create a folder called Pwnage on your desktop.
Step 2: Download redsn0w from here and put it in the Pwnage folder you just created.
Step 3: Download also iPhone OS 3.0 firmware location below and put in under the Pwnage folder.

Step 4: Remove the redsn0w executable (. Exe) zip file from the Pwnage folder.

Step 5: Now connect 3G iPhone to your computer and start iTunes.
Step 6: Select the iPhone from the list of the devices mentioned in the left side.
Click and hold the Option key and click the Restore button.

Step 7: Go to the Pwnage folder. Select the firmware with the. Ipsw and click the Open button to continue.
Note: If you are already in the iPhone OS 3.0, then you can skip this step entirely.

Step 8: Once iTunes finished updating your iPhone, the launch of redsn0w.app the Pwnage folder on your desktop.

Step 9: After redsn0w opened click the Browse button.

Step 10: Now select the ipsw firmware that had been placed in the Pwnage folder and click the Open button.

Step 11: After the firmware has been verified, click the Next button to continue.

Step 12: Make sure you select Cydia checkbox and click the Next button.

Step 13: Redsn0w now instruct you on how to get your 3G iPhone in recovery mode.
Disconnect the iPhone from the computer and off.
Press and hold Start while you reconnect your iPhone 3G to the computer.
Note: Do not release the start button until redsn0w detects your iPhone and start the installation.

Step 14: The iPhone will now restart.

Step 15: redsn0w then start loading the RAM disk again and the core of your iPhone.

Step 16: redsn0w will notify you when complete. Click the Finish button.

Step 17: The iPhone 3G is about 5 minutes to reboot, and once restart will be jailbroken with Cydia installed on the trampoline.

Note that this guide only jailbreaks iPhone 3G running iPhone OS 3.0, you must install Ultrasn0w via Cydia to unlock the iPhone 3G.
