belkin g wireless router network key

Can somebody help me with a wifi connection problem?

I have just changed Broadband providers and in the meantime whail i wait for the new connection, my nextdoor neightbour has said i can use his connection. I have found his network in the wifi connections, but when i put his password into the box where it asks for a WEP key, all i get is the message “aquiring network address” and then the connection drops. I had no problems with old wifi connection but massive problems connecting to his. The only difference i can see is that i had to use a hexidecimal password and his is not. (Although i doubt ths makes any difference). I have a wifi enabled acer aspire 3660 and my neighbours router is a belkin wireless g-router.

If anyone can point me in the correct direction, i would be most grateful as i am a bit ignorant in the ways of technology

many thanks, bob
We have since tried another laptop on the wireless network and it has connected with no problems. Is there a way of checking configurations or anything like that?
