How Can I Fix My Xbox Live Lag?
- I am connected to my Xbox live wirelessly with the Xbox wireless network adapter
-I have a Belkin Wireless N Router (Model F5D8233-4v3)
-NAT is Open
-Internet Connection is 3 MBPS and 100 MBPS on Local Area Connection
- It didnt start lagging right when i got xbox live. It started lagging after 2 or 3 days. Coincidentally after i setup my routers security settings, but i know for sure that the security settings are not the problem.
No option of going wired
My Preservable Bandwidth is at 0%
The best way to fix it is to go wired. I know it isn’t what you want to hear but a wired connection is more stable for on line gameplay. Lag also has to do with how far away your opponent is from you. If you’re in Alaska playing against someone in Florida then you will probably have more lag than someone who is only a state or two away.
EDIT: If you can’t go wired then call Belkin’s customer service. If you have another computer set up through that router you can get step-by-step instructions how to speed up your connection (unless the problem is with your modem or your Internet Provider itself). Depending on how the router is set up, you might have it set on a higher output that is causing the connection to slow down. I had to do the same thing with my Linksys router because I have a 10meg connection but I was getting around 100kb through my wireless. After calling the company they talked me through my settings and it fixed the problem. This will only fix a slow connection, if you are playing someone on the other side of the country or the other person has a slow connection then lag is inevitable, especially if you are playing a fighting game.
