My Wireless Network Connection (XP) randomly dies and will not reapair itself. Can someone please help?
I have a belkin(54g) F5D7230-4 wireless router, and I also have a Encore Electronics Wireless-G PCI Adapter (ENLWI-G). For some reason, it randomly stops working. The Wireless Network Configuration status does not change, apparently it freezes up, because it will do nothing unless I reboot the computer (which I have to do manually via the reset button on my computer).
It’s very strange, I ran a bit torrent client for hours and it worked fine, but about a minute after I turned it off, it stopped working. But other times, it will work fine when I turn it off. It is very random, sometimes my wireless connection will last 15 minutes, other times 4-8 hours.
Reluctantly, I have installed all of the software for the pci adapter and router, with no results. My next step is to reinstall windows xp, but I would rather not. Has anyone experienced this? Do you have any idea where-in the problem lies? (e.g. router, pci card, xp, etc.)
G’day Phillymac78,
Thank you for your question.
While I am not familiar with the hardware and software, I would know what I would do.
The first thing I would do is check whether it is within the warranty period. If it is I would get in a man and see if he can repair it.
If it isn’t, I would then contact the help sections for the software or hardware to see if they can come up with an answer.
Good luck in sorting out the problem.
Regards
router
