MY laptop keeps disconnecting from my belkin wireless router every like 10 minutes? help me. how do i fix this?

my desktop is connected to router using ethernet cable and my laptop is only 6 feet away. how do i fix this?

Check on the IP address your router is using to connect to the network. I had a problem with a belkin router that was using the same default IP as my modem’s default IP. By switching the IP on the router to a different number, it solved the problem..

Nearly invisible to the desktop that was hard wired, as when the router dropped out, it would reconnect almost instantly. The desktop did not miss a beat. But both my laptops, would have to reconnect to the network, which took a minute or so for it to search for the network, and then log on. About drove me crazy until another on y-answers told me about the IP address issue.

You can change the IP address the router is using in the router control panel, which you get to through your web browser from the desktop. You can not make the changes from the laptop as when you make the change the wireless network will drop, and you will not be able to complete the changes. Do it from the desktop that does not need the wireless link to stay connected to the router.
