How I can use my Belkin wireless router as an access point for my 2Wire?

I have a 2Wire 2701HGV-W and a Belkin 802.11g Wireless DSL / Cable Gateway Router (F5D7230-4). I understand that I am able to use the Belkin router as an AP (Access Point) for my 2Wire to extend the range. I'm not sure how. had a bit of a mess around today, no luck. The 2Wire router is only connected to the Internet. Do i program the 2Wire to connect to the Belkin, or the program i Belkin to connect to the 2Wire?? What can I use the MAC address or IP address? All help is appreciated …

There are two ways to configure the Belkin. 1. You can configure a "second" of the network. To do this, connect the computer to the Belkin (use a computer with connection cable) input to panel management. http://192.168.2.1 (unless you changed the default) You should be able to login using "admin" as username and leave the password blank (again, unless you changed the default) Once in the interface. establish the WAN connection for DHCP. Set the LAN any range of IP addresses that are not 192.168.1.x The default range will work. You can not have two routers with the same IP ranges! Save the settings and disconnect the router from your computer. Disconnect the power supply, connect any of the LAN ports on the 2wire to the WAN / Internet port of the Belkin. Apply power. You must be able to use the "second" SSID (Belkin54G – that must change in the configuration as well) and are able to work by connecting to it. With SOME 2wire you may need to access the 2wire web interface and set the IP of the Belkin as a demilitarized zone. Admission is 2wire http://gateway.2wire.net to Go configuring firewall and IP to be delivered to the Belkin unit as a demilitarized zone. This allows all traffic to pass directly to the "second" network. This method is in fact a second network of computers connected to the 2wire sense not to see or be able to connect to computers using the Belkin. The teams BELKIN not see or connect to the 2-wire equipment. Everyone should be able to use the Internet! 2. The second method allows the Belkin to work simply as an access point. BELKIN enter as aforesaid. Change the default WAN settings to match the 2wire. IE 192.168.1.2 as the IP of the device to use the static configuration. The subnet is 255.255.255.0, gateway "is the 2wire .. IP (192.168.1.254 for most 2wire or 192.168.1.1 for older units) DNS is also should be set that IP as well. Go to LAN settings and disable DHCP! Just click the button and your router does not issue any Local Address! After the unit off and unplug your computer. Connect a cable (may need a crossover cable, not everything depends on the firmware in both units!) From any 2wire LAN port to a LAN port on the Belkin! (Do not use the WAN / INTERNET port!) Turn on the unit. You should then be able to connect and obtain an address 2wire IP, using the device! With this method, all computers are all on the same LAN and must be able to see each other as well as the use of Internet. NOTICE – In both cases the two routers are connected together! Method one uses the Internet / WAN port Belkin, the method uses two LAN ports only on the Belkin.
