Why do you need router?
Router is a device that allows more than 1 computer to access the Internet at the same time. Take an example. You have 2 computers and have 1 modem that is given by your service provider Internet (ISP). You can connect one computer to the modem and use the Internet on that computer. What about the second team? Modem will allow only one computer to access the Internet. You need a router.

As explained above, the modem will allow only one computer to access the Internet. There are different authentication systems used by the modem to allow access to the Internet. To configure the router you need to know the types of authentication. Once you understand the concept of authentication, you can configure the router.
