Wireless internet problems, need a pro?

Basically am using a Belkin Wireless-G router + talktalk broadband with my PC (as PC is too far from ethernet port to wire it up). However, have had tons of problems with it:

1. There is never constant internet on my PC, everytime the PC is turned on again the router has to spend 5-10mins setting up/connecting to the PC
2. Connection is really hit and miss, sometimes have to go through the rigmarole of entering WPA passwords and such (takes ages to connect)
3. The routers connection is broke as soon as you switch between user accounts on XP (have to go through process once again)

How do I get my router to just connect and stay connected (so the internet is ready to go as soon as PC is on/on constantly). Id like to get a Nintendo DS USB connector but Im guessing Id have to log onto my XP account (and stay logged on) and wait for the internet connection everytime I want to use it (which would be a pain).

Please help, great appreciation if you do.

It is never too far to be connected with Ethernet. How about using two HomePlugs to connect via the mains?
