belkin wireless router turbo mode

by admin on February 2, 2010

What do the “extend range” and “turbo mode” options do on a Belkin wireless-G router?

Model Number F5D7230-4, These options appear under the “Channel and ssid” screen. The manual makes no reference to them.

It would seem to be rather self-explainitory. Extend range increases the signal output strength so that it will penetrate through more walls/floors and give you a stronger signal from further away.

Turbo mode runs the router in 108 Mbps mode instead of 54 Mbps mode, meaning intranet traffic will be faster (internet traffic will still be limited to whatever your gateway speed is – usually 3-5 Mbps)
