Netgear WGR614 to Belkin 7230-4 wireless bridge…possible?
Is it possible to bridge a Netgear WGR614v5 wireless router to a Belkin 7230-4 v7001 wireless router? Currently, I have the WGR614 configured as a wireless access point for my DSL connection. I bought a Belkin 7230-4 hoping to use it as a bridge between my current setup and my Slingbox. I was going to use DD-WRT to accomplish this, but apparently the hardware version of my Belkin is not currently supported (the version number was not specified on the product page when I bought it). I have set the Belkin up as a bridge using its current firmware, but I cannot get the two routers to communicate with each other. Is this even possible with two different routers? Does the WGR614 even support WDS (I’ve read conflicting answers)? Might it work if the setup were reversed (i.e. with the Belkin as the main router and the Netgear as the bridge)? I’m leaning toward returning the Belkin and getting two new routers, but I would like to avoid that expense if possible. Any help will be appreciated.
I’ve only ever gotten a bridge to work between two Belkin 7230, as thier manual says that’s the only way they can do it on the help site… although, I could have sworn I did it from my Linksys WRT54, to the Belkin… although after hours of trying, I couldn’t get it to accept it as a bridge a second time… good luck
Update: Link to Belkin… I just did it with two 7230-4

Just did it with my Linksys, follow the ap setup for your belkin (the second part on the belkin page), and it just works… how odd is that… never thought I’d get it back, thanks, lol
side note: I can only get it to work with WEP or no security… for some reason, I can’t line up WPA/WPA2, still trying though… I’m actually using my computer via the bridge right now, testing it out… works pretty good, maybe my issue before was the WPA… hmmm
