Which wireless router should I get?
I hvae a trendnet tew-452brp super G wireles router. It supposed to have extended range but every time I go upstairs my signal drops from 100 to 50. Also, I only get 100 when right beside it so if I am somwhere else the internet is really slow. Even wired connections are slow when connected to the router. I have a 10mbs internet connection so it shouldn’t be slow.
Right now I am deciding between the WRT160N and WRT54G2. I want to get a brand name router because my trendnet is a peice of crap thyat weighs like a gram and feels like its filled with air. I think lynksys is most reliable.
I have a 2 laptops that are G, an ipod touch and a ps3. Will the wireless N work good with these devices. I am also getting a mac which is N next month. What other reliable routers are there and which one would be best for me?
Ive heard that wireless G/B interfere with N making all of them slower
Yes, wireless N is backwards compatible. However, the benefits from it (increased speed and range) are there if you are using wireless G devices.
I would buy the N router if it doesnt cost too much more than the G.
