Issues having with my laptop wireless adapter?

I have an HP dv9000 laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium version loaded. Yes I know that HP is not the best and yes, know Vista has problems, but here is my problem. A friend of mine came over and was having connection problems my wireless router, so I started to play with my team to try to figure out the security settings to copy to your computer. In the process, which should be removed a profile, or turn off my internal network adapter (external switch is safe) or something to make my wireless stop working. I brought the laptop to work where we Netwrok and an unsecured laptop is finding the router here at work, but does not connect to the Internet. I went ahead and did a system restore on my system and I still have this problem. Is there a way to convert the internal network adapter or wireless card that I do not know? Thanks in advance for your help!

The fact that your place of work recognizes the router laptop internally also means that your laptop is fine. Do not try meddling in the internal hardware – it seems that it is not necessary! And who said HP is not the best? It is also good as Toshiba, Dell or Viao. To check if the laptop connects to your home router, open Internet Explorer at home and type in the address http://192.168.1.1. YOUR ROUTER TO APPEAR the screen with his model (Netgear or Linksys or D-Link or BENQ – what have you) To enter the programming of the router changes. type your username and password, do you have this? Once inside the program, you have to enter the IP details 192.162.1. "X", the "last x" is the number assigned to the laptop on the network ….. say 2 or 3 or 4. You must also enter the DNS sequence number (that your broadband service provider has given). The gateway router is always 192.168.1.1 Forget security settings at this stage – you want to make sure the router / modem connection is working properly. Security can come later. Once you have applied these, may restart the laptop, go to Control Panel and click on the networks. Your wireless network and all other available networks should appear. Go to properties of your Internet connection Wi-Fi and either enter the IP and DNS same figures as well or choose "Select Automatically". Apply these and settings OK. Reboot and your Wi-Fi should appear after the usual 30 seconds to 1 minute search time of access. Try this and does not operate an e-mail to ksnmohan@yahoo.com. I live in India.
