You can use Wi-Fi, but no Ethernet connection on the wireless router after reinstalling Windows XP?

I'm using a laptop or computer Portable DSL line delivered through long hard modem through a wireless router (D-Link DIR-300) with ethernet ports on it for cable access. This notebook mainly connected via wi-fi, but still use ethernet cable from time to time, and then. In the past, could connect an Ethernet cable to an Ethernet port on the router and gain access this way. I recently installed anything new on this notebook (restored the system using the manufacturer disc always) after backing up all my files. Then I can use wi-fi on the same network / router, but when I connect to the router using an Ethernet cable, I DHCP IP Assignment suffering / problems and have not been able to connect to the 'net via Ethernet since then. I used a driver update for my adapter Ethernet network – I have to come from Windows Update after I reinstall. It can be a problem. Does anyone have suggestions on what is causing my Problems with cable access, and how to fix?

First check the laptop manufacturing site and pick up their latest drivers LAN for your laptop and install it. Secondly check your IP and make sure not set static, but DHPC, assuming the router is running DHCP is. You can do this by going to Network Connections in Control Panel and right-clicking on the ethernet connection. Click Properties and select "Internet Protocol (TCP / IP) and click Properties. Make sure "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected. Also make sure "Obtain DNS servers automatically "also shown below. Then close those pages and try to reconnect to the router via ethernet.
