D-Link DIR-635 router connection drops?

I recently received the previous router, installed it. I am using an Ethernet cable connection to my pc (And router), and using a wireless connection between my laptop (and router). Ethernet cable connection to my pc works fine, but on my computer laptop connection is often dropped, but do not know why. The router works fine at my friend and if I go to a free wifi enabled area, I can use my computer laptop and the internet works fine. So I think there is no problem either with the router or my laptop. I do not know why and how to configure settings router menu. One of my friends said I should try the MAC cloning. I pressed the "Clone MAC address of my PC button, save the settings, but no connection to the internet after that. How I can do this MAC address cloning? I would appreciate any help please!

Cloning MAC is absolutely not the answer. Try changing the wireless channel on the router, it could be another wireless connection in your area that is interfering with it. Also, make sure your modem and the router are like 5-10 feet away, some modems are not adequately protected and can leak EMI. Something else to check is if you have 2.4GHz cordless phones. If you do, try unplugging the base station and pulling the cell phone briefly. If this makes that their wireless Internet to improve, then you know it's the phone. A potential solution to this is to try again to play with wireless channel on your router, or if that fails, the investment in 5.8 GHz chordless phones.
