I have to run the wireless network wizard to connect to my WEP secure connection.?
My wireless network consists of a Toshiba laptop linksys pcmcia card with 802.11g, a D-link wireless router, a Dell Media Center PC with an ethernet connection to the router. My problem is every time I use the laptop I have to run the wireless network wizard and choose to add a computer to an existing network to obtain an IP address and actually connect to the Internet or home work net. Sometimes I can disconnect and reconnect the wireless connection and I will have the network key dialog. Usually work after that, too. I just automatically connect when turned on the laptop.
It could just be that your wireless connection is not set automatic. Try this: click your wireless network doulbe icon> Properties> Wireless> Networks tab Make sure that your network SSID (name) is within the preferred networks box, check that the value 'auto', if not highlight your connection and click Properties tab Connection> and add a tick in the box. All this is assuming you are using the Wireless Network Utility Windows XP inside.
