Use wireless router to get camera video?
I hope someone out there can help. I’m not sure where to start so I thought I would start here.
I have an IP based security camera I need to access wirelessly. I have a D Link Router (WBR-1310) connected to the camera but don’t know how to get the video to broadcast through the router so I can see the video on my computer. I turned off DHCP and ported the cameras IP address through the router but still nothing happens.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated? Thanks.
If you forwarded the cameras port then you should be OK. I have never heard of passing the IP except to do a proxy or ghost surf. When a port is forwarded what happens is that port becomes accessible outside of the local network. There is no need to forward anything to access from the local net. The only thing the router needs is the ip of the camera. Then the software on the local system is charged with the duty of properly displaying the information coming from the camera. So my question to you is what software are you using to display the images?
router
