d-link wireless router security setup wizard

by admin on April 3, 2010

I’m able to connect to my wireless router, but not the internet?

I’m using a D-link Gamer Lounge wireless router which broadcasts a signal just fine. I’m able to connect to it, go to the setup screen, and everything; however when I run the internet connection wizard nothing happens. I’ve tried resetting the router itself, renewing my IP address, disabling security, and just about everything else under the sun. When I plug directly into my computer, I get a strong connection so I no it’s not my ISP. Please help me.

Step by step..

You are solid in your knowledge if signals and ip addresses so lets jump to the chase

Check you WAN setting ( status) on your router and ensure it’s got an IP from the Internet and DNS. Then check you IP ( ipconfig /all) and see that you have the same DNS or your router as DNS.
IF no ip then your issue is between your box and the ISP check the MAC address and use yours from your PC as a test.

If all looks good eliminate IP low level with a ping test..( start /cmd)
ping www.yahoo.com

if no good try the ip
ping 69.147.76.15

still no good then

issue may be blocking on your router or system post back with findings

Good luck
