how to set up Xbox Live to a computer with a wireless adapter?

well in my room I have a team that used to have a modem. my Dad bought a new computer (vista) and put it in the living room. then my dad bought a wireless router and put it on the new computer. so now I have a D-Link wireless adapter on my computer. the problem is that my x-box can not find or locate my computers IP address, subnet mask and gateway. I tried back to the modem but my computer and modem only has one ethernet port. I also do not buy the xbox wireless adapter. How I can change or set my pc and 360 to work in my circumstances.

Unless you buy the wireless network adapter, you can not connect to your wireless home network. You will to run an ethernet cable from the Xbox 360 for the modem. But since you say the modem / router has only one Ethernet port, I understand your frustration. There is a way to connect the 360 to the Ethernet port on your PC, but only if ….. 1. You are using a USB connection to a stand alone modem for your cable or high speed internet DSL access. O 2. You're using the internal modem of your PC to your cable or high speed internet DSL access. (And I had to run an ethernet cable long term if they are not in the same room) is called a Windows ICS connection. Here is the link to the xbox.com support page which also http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/XboxLive/GetConnected/SetupaHomeNetwork/WindowsICSConnection.aspx call 1-800-4MY-XBOX support
