internet .. wireless router?
I have a roommate with Smart Connection BRO on your desktop .. I recently got my own PC and want to share connection with him .. What I do .. I realize that this involves using a router .. But how? I saw this picture, "D-link router and it cost around 2500 .. is that all I need to buy or is there something that needs to be added to PC? pls tell me that what I do and what to buy … thanks for time …
1. Check first if you have an Ethernet port on the back of your PC. It looks like this: Apologies http://library.webster.edu/pcguide/images/laptop_network/ethernet_port.jpg if you know what you think. Since your PC is brand new, should have one. Otherwise, you need to purchase and install a LAN card. LAN cards are fairly standard, but I I recommend the well-known brands such as Linksys and D-Link. 2. Having two LAN cables ready. One for you and one for your roommate. Make sure they are long enough. 3. Purchase and install a router. I highly recommend this one compact Linksys: http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-Compact-Wireless-G-Broadband-WRT54GC/dp/B0007MGG2M should be less than 2500 PHP (I bought mine in 2350 PHP). It's easy to find in computer shops, especially around the area of Makati. 4. Finding a good tutorial through Internet (keywords: linksys router smart brother). Many are available.
