I was wondering if you can grab an ethernet cable? and hook up or is it more difficult then sounds? please someone has instructions step by step? xoxo-amy Note I have a HP Pavilion 3GB memory and 250 GB Portable Hard Drive
You can run a cable, but the desktop will need two Ethernet connections. (One for DSL, one for you laptop to connect to), just enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) in the desktop better. solution is to get a good router and use it. The cable will have temporary installation that will be disposed of using the router when you get it. (Only have to use you have until you can change it. ) You may only have to change router settings to fix your problem. Set the MTU to 1492, no default value 1500 (which itself may determine its disconnected completely!) All Yahoo DSL was established in 1492 if "mismatch" will have random disconnects.
