how to connect two linksys wireless routers together

by admin on February 24, 2010

How should I network my laptop with my two existing networked desktop computers?

I have two desktop computers networked and sharing internet together with router and ethernet cable. I went this way as they had previously been networked wirelessly, but this was very unreliable and down often. Anyway, the two now networked together flawlessly, no problems. I just purchased a Dell laptop with built in wireless card and a Linksys router. Any suggestions how to connect my three units together without taking out the ethernet cable system I already have in place?? Thanks! Bob
Please note, I forgot to mention Linksys router I bought for laptop is Wireless.

You can simply purchase a wireless router and connect the wireless router to the existing router that you have with an Ethernet cable. The laptop can then communicate with the wireless router and through the wired router to the internet connection or with your other wired PCs.

An alternative is to purchase a wireless router with DSL/Cable features with
ports for wired-cable connections. This will give you the ability to connect your desktops through a wired network while at the same time, provide connection for wireless devices.

I personally had the first set up but when the equipment got old and outdated, I switched to a wireless DSL router where I hooked up my 3 desktops and 2 laptops to the same internal network.

The second option would cost less overall with very little changes to your existing network, since it really works as your current network setup plus now you have wireless availability also.
