installing the new router (modem is in a separate room)?

Hi,

It’s me again; last time I checked in everyone told me to buy my own router to network my house and we just bought a Linksys wireless router.

Here is the problem: my modem is all by itself in a separate room with cables running through the walls/floor (per previous owner). Two wires come out of the floor in that room: one that links to my computer and a second one from my (cable) company, I guess.

So we can’t follow the installation instructions that have me connecting the router directly to my computer tower.

Just fyi, the model is the LINKSYS by Cisco Wireless-N Broadband Router. Appreciate any suggestions.
the modem is in the foyer of my house (per previous owner’s wiring); I can’t have computer and modem in the same room.

The easiest way to connect your router to your modem is by having them both in the same room.
