Linksys 802.11g Wireless Router….Do I need the one with Speedbooster??
I’m looking into purchasing the Linksys wireless 802.11g router and want to know if I really need the model with the Speedbooster. My internet connection is cable. I live in a two story, small home. The wireless router would be setup in the basement and one desktop and one laptop would be wired to the router and one laptop would be wireless and used primarily from the 2nd floor. Is really necessary to get the Speedbooster or is it a case of spending more money and not getting that much back in return? Thanks for your help.
No, speedbooster does nothing at all really. I have had both and i work for a national computer repair center and it really doesnt do much. since your house is a two story you much get weak signal in certain places. if you do get a ranger expander from linksys its about 70 dollars and it will repeat the wireless signal around the house. therefore you can get better signal strengths throughout the entire house. hope it helps
