Help needed configuring Linksys Wireless-B “BEFW11S4″ as a second router or access point?
I currently have Linksys Wireless-G “WRT54G” (A) connecting to the Comcast modem. It works perfectly in my room. I am trying to share the internet with my friend, but his room is a little bit far to get the signal. We have another Linksys Wireless-B “BEFW11S4″ (B) that we are trying to set it up as the second router or access point. It does not matter if it is going to be wireless or wired network in his room as long as he can access to the Internet. Below are some info of the main router (A):
Local IP address: 192.168.2.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server: Enable
Starting IP address: 192.168.2.100
DDNS: Disable
Operating Mode: Gateway
By the way, I found a guide on eHow (http://www.ehow.com/how_2308651_use-router-as-repeater.html) but I could not find a place to change the operating mode on the second router.
Thanks in advance.
I believe if you can access the configuration menu of the router, then the submenu has an ‘access point’ tab where you can configure the router to act as an access point to increase your wireless network distance.
see below for a link to the BEFW11S4 setup manual. You’ll have to know the version of your router hardware (bottom of your router) to select the correct manual.
