linksys wireless router and access points
Will a Linksys router (DHCP off) work as an access point off of a switch connected to a D-Link router?

My little home network consists of a D-Link DGL-4100 router with a switch. From the switch I run a DGL-4300 to my upstairs, as a wireless access point (I have its DHCP turned off.) Now my wife bought a notebook computer, and I need better wireless coverage for the house’s lower level. The store sold her a Linksys router. If I repeat the same strategy, using the Linksys as an access point, will it play nice with the D-Link DGL-4100?

I had no luck getting a Dlink box to work as a layer 2 device. It insisted on being a router.

I went out and got a Linksys WAP54G AP (not a router, no IP, just a layer 802.3 to 802.11 bridge) and placed this at the other end of the house, attached to the wired network. It worked like a charm.
