How to networking my desktop and wireless Laptop?
My desktop is plugged into my Wireless Linksys Router which then gives me my internet conection and printer is plugged into. My laptop has a built in wireless conection to that router. How do i setup a “file sharing” conection and a “printer shareing” connection with my laptop to my desktop? So i can print from my laptop to the printer conected to the desktop.
start button on your desktop, printers and faxes, right click on your printer select sharing, to tun it on.
for files, browse to the folders you want to sare with “my computer” right click on the folder, select properties, click on the sharing tab and turn sharing on. Make sure if you do this your wi-fi signal is wep encrypted, those shared folders, and your printer, will be available to anyone if it isn’t.
to view or get to those shared folders with your lap top, click start my network places, view workgroup computers, and you should see the shared folders on the desktop, from your laptop.
