Using a linksys router to open second wireless internet?
Okay, so in my home we have a linksys router as use wirelessly. When we put up, the ground floor of the signal is very weak and when you put down, up, the signal is weak. I have a second linksys router. My question is, is there any way to put a router downstairs and one upstairs router to expand our phone? * I'm not asking about how to obtain an extension or an antenna, etc … I'm wondering if there is a way to do it with two routers .* Please put precise (ie networks for Dummies) instructions if you know how to do this. I'm usually very technical, but not when it comes to wireless devices.
There is one way, but can be a bit technical. you did not specify what router I had (model) I'm not sure if some of the newer routers have an option to relay. This basically means that network has a primary, secondary after a router (repeater), which then retransmits the signal, thus expanded the size of the network. The technical way to do this is to install DD-WRT firmware on both routers. then bridge together. This is actually much simpler than it seems, but an adventure depends on how you feel. The next option would be to buy just a router that already has the repeater function built into it, and put it this way.
