linksys wireless router broadband internet

Does the Linksys – Wireless-G Broadband Router with 4-Port Ethernet Switch need a modem for internet?

I’m going to college next week and I’m moving into an apartment soon. I need internet so I can do school work. Can this connect to the internet right out of the box?
