How do I set up the Internet on my Wii?

I think my network is wired
I have a cable internet connection, a cable modem
I do not have a wired or wireless router
My Wii found an aoss access point-linksys but the signal isnt very strong

Could I use a regular jump drive to connect to the internet?

One thing that is weird is that i can get the news and forcast channels but not wii shop. and they all require internet connection. it will not work when i try to update it either

Please help..What do I need to do to get the internet to work?

You are using an unknown access point that your Wii found?

That’s probably a neighbor’s, although it’s illegal, that’s not the problem I would worry about.
What is bad is that it’s not your connection so it will be unreliable and already has a weak signal.

I would just get a wireless connection of your own

You say you have a cable modem? So just

a) Buy a cheap wireless router that works with your speed (depending on you bandwidth speed “wireless-g” routers are probably your best bet.

b) Ask your ISP (internet service provider) if they have any attachment or deal where you can get wireless.

c) If you have a computer in your house with an internet connection, you can buy a little USB Wifi connector designed for the Wii. http://www.amazon.com/DS-WiFi-USB-Adapter/dp/B000BVYIZG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1212360043&sr=1-3

-or-

d) Get a wired LAN adapter for you Wii.

And have your Wii directly connection to your modem / port switch.
