Help with planning to add wireless to a network.?
I am going out to a customers site shortly to take some notes and reconnaissance on there network configuration, to figure out how to add a wireless router to there current configuration.
Now I do know that there current network uses statically assigned IP address’s (no DHCP). So my idea is that I will use a standard LinkSys WRTG54G Router, set it up with 128bit encryption, and have the router assign IP addresses to any wireless clients dynamically.
Now my guess is that I will need to assign a static IP to the router though so it has access to the network and internet?!?
If anyone has any suggestions of things I should look for while I am out there. I will not be setting this up today, I am just doing some preliminary analysis of there setup.
I do have prior networking training, I am just a bit rusty at the moment, and this job was short notice.
Thanks,
with there being a pre existing network connection allready there it will auto detect your ip,you can use this as a static ….its just like its allways been really ..you could also use 1 of the linksys predefined statics which you will see upon putting in software disc and a few steps all in all easy look forward to it your not rusty its the technology that still rusty on routers
hope ive helped
