linksys wireless router dhcp problems

by admin on March 21, 2010

Using a wireless router, I can not seem to get a client computer to ping the host or router. Whats up?

I created a wireless network before. Using Windows XP, it's fun and easy. But for some reason I can not seem to get this working new wireless network. I have two computers using Windows XP, a Linksys G router Wi-Fi (latest firmware), a wireless PCI adapter on a computer connected to the router, and a network on the other adatapter computer that is connected to the router. When ping the router from the computer connected to the router, works perfectly, however, when I try to ping the wireless router the computer does not work. DHCP is enabled on the router and both computers are configured to obtain an IP address automatically. What could be the problem? I have a feeling that is rather small Windows configuration problem. Someone please help?

No computer expert here, but probably had the same in the last two weeks. I had to disable security (Norton, McAfee) do not change the WEP key – when broken is drop your wireless esp if there are other available wireless networks, go to the linksys wireless router settings – check the channel, security settings. I finally got so frustrated, desks and cabling arrangements for a laptop.
