Linksys wireless router WRT54G question?

I have a new DSL connection from AT&T and having trouble getting my router to work with this. My router worked at my former apartment two weeks ago when I had cable internet, and then I moved. And before you ask, I have restarted, rebooted, released/renewed dozens of times, and everything IS turned on.

The connection to the internet works when the modem is plugged directly into the computer, but when I plug the modem into the router and the router into the computer during setup, the Linksys setup CD says that the router is not receiving a signal from the modem and that I should turn the modem off and on. The CD also gives me about 6 options for what kind of connection I have (PPPOE, TELSTRA, DHCP, etc.) and I was pretty sure that I had PPPOE, but when that didn’t work, I tried all of my options, and none of them worked either.

Can someone help me out? I know this is limited information, but does anyone have any suggestions or encountered this themselves?

Thank you!

1. Did you choose the correct option in the gateway/router mode of operation? (The option is there in one of the web options)

2. Is the PPPoE connection done by your modem as well as the router. Make sure that only one of them uses that, and the other one is in bridged mode.
