Where is the antenna in the Linksys WRT400N router?
I know that the antenna is inside the router, but specifically which part? And is it possible to attach a directional antenna in it, or to use one of those DIY parabolic reflectors to boost its wireless range?
If not, is there any other way that I can have a stronger signal in my PC 1 floor above the router (aside from moving the router)?
Thanks!
It’s internal to the unit. It’s not possible to use an external antenna with it without performing major surgery on the unit. Due to the high frequencies used that would be a job for an experienced RF technician.
Try reorienting the router or your computer. Sometimes just a couple of inches can have a major impact on performance. Also, be sure that you are using an ‘N’ wireless NIC on your computer since ‘N’ has much better range than ‘B’ or ‘G’ do.
