Windows 2000 ME- How to get Wireless to work?

I have a Windows 2000 ME and it worked for a long time with the wireless Linksys Router. Recently a ‘friend’ tried to download Vista, and XP onto it to make it ‘faster’. Needless to say this screwed it up. I was able to reset the PC and it deleted all the programs. I reinstalled the wireless Adapter, but it doesn’t seem to work. The power light comes on but the wireless light doesn’t (on the router). A friend told me I need to download a driver onto the PC to make it work, but I don’t know where to get this or how to go about downloading it. Do you have any advise on where to get this driver if needed, or what else could be done to get the PC to work? Thanks

I would suggest that your “friends” stop playing with “your” computer if they don’t know what they are doing…
Long story short;
1. Find out what Operating System you truly have on your PC.
2. Get the model number of the wireless adapter, and install the appropriate drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
3. The Router doesn’t need drivers..I would suggest downloading the manual from the website, and performing a reset on it to make sure it wasn’t “locked down” by a “friend”".
Follow the directions from the router’s manual coupled with the manual from the NIC’s manual, and you should be fine.

Good Luck.
