linksys wireless router firmware upgrades

Need a little help upgrading linksys router’s firmware?

I have a linksys WRT54G at one end of my apartment attached to my parents router and have a WUSB54GP wireless adapter for my PC at the other end. Am a little confused about whether it’s possible to upgrade the firmware for a wireless adapter because all the hacked firmwares have been written for routers only! Is it even possible to administrate the adapter in the same way as it’s done for a router (entering the router’s ip in your browsers url space and entering a username and password)

The last time I upgraded my wireless USB adapter it involved downloading software from the manufactures Website and installing directly from the PC or laptop. Check with Linksys when their download service is back on line, you can call or chat for answers.
