linksys wireless router g software
What do I do if I have problems connecting to my Linksys Wireless-G router?

I ran the software to install my wireless router. I follow the directions, but when it tries to communicate to the router to set it up, it isn’t setting up.

I have an eternet cable that goes from the modem to the internet port on the router. I have an eternet cable that goes from port 1 on the router to the eternet card in the main computer. The router is plugged in and on.

If I run>cmd I type “ipconfig /all”, it shows the router’s ip as the default gateway. But if I try to connect to the internet, there is no connection. It’s like the router is denying access to the internet for whatever reason.

Is there a setting that I need to change possibly?

The modem may not be properly associated with the router. The easiest and most effective way to fix this is to unplug all the cables from the modem and restart it. Let it power on with nothing plugged into it (except the power obviously).
Shut it down, and reattach the cables to connect it to the router.
This works about 90% of the time in these cases. If it doesn’t there might be something else wrong.

Check the status tab of your config page, and see if you’re getting an IP from the provider.
