Linksys Wireless?
Suddenly stopped working
My neighbor and I share his High Speed (we split the monthly cost) and my wireless card–and his router…
It’s through socal.rr.com
and I wonder why it keeps telling me (when I have windows REPAIR) that it can’t renew the IP address and yet when I do an IPconfig after, an IP address shows up, with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0
there is no default gateway though…
I don’t understand what has changed, because I can see the network and I can actually connect up to the point where it attempts to acquire the network address.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the card with no luck.
Their is activity as the green light lights up and flickers…
and suggestions?
First determine if the problem is on the internet side or something with the router itself.
It is probably internet side if:
1. Your neighbor can’t connect either.
2. The Linksys conguration screen under STATUS does not have an IP address or has an IP starting with 192.168.x.x
Also, with some of these cheap Linksys routers they just need to be power cycled once in a while.
