I'm totally lost with my new wireless router?
I have att dsl w / a Motorola modem. I bought a linksys router for the wireless system I do not know how to connect. Should I connect the ADSL modem and the modem to the router? When I make the router does not find a connection? please help.
Connect your DSL line to your modem. Use an ethernet cable and connect the modem to the WAN port of router. Use another Ethernet cable connector on the end in an open port on the router and the other end into the network card on your PC or laptop. Router: Connect the Ethernet / Internet from the modem to the WAN port router (Its the only one with a different symbol indicates that the others are LAN ports). Next use an Ethernet cable to connect your PC to the LAN port router. Now log on the router to configure it. (See user manual how to access depends on which router to buy.) Once connected you have to configure the Internet connection. Use DHCP if you have a cable connection and use PPPoE if you have a DSL connection. If you use DSL you have to enter information that was given to you by your provider Internet. You have to configure your wireless network. Give your wireless network name (aka SSID), network password, set security / WPA or WPA2 encryption. Set channel to Auto. Turn off any MAC address filtering, turn off any port forwarding. Save and exit. The password keeps others that use Internet for free and keeps your information safe from identity theft. Unplug the ethernet cable from your laptop. Turn on your Wi-Fi card. Click the network icon in the bottom right of the task menu on your screen. Select your network. You may be prompted to enter the network password to access your network.
