My home PC keeps saying “Network Cable Unplugged”. Just added DSL modem to my wireless router.?
I have a desktop and a laptop. Worked fine before until I changed from cable internet to now DSL service. I have replugged, rebooted to no avail. Keeps giving me the error on my main pc. I can connect to the internet wireless through my laptop only. Please help, not sure how to renew ip address or if that will solve my issue. Tried setting up a new network but I can’t even find it now. My wireless router is a Linksys. Thank you in advance.
Since you are connected wirelessly I assume the router is connected to the internet just fine. Check the simple things first. Make sure your ethernet cable is not loose and that it is connected firmly into the router and the pc. Then try renewing the ip address on the problem computer by going to Start>Run type cmd then at the command prompt (black window) type ipconfig/release hit enter then type ipconfig/renew If you get an error stating that you unable to retrieve an ip address from the gateway (router) I would find another ethernet cable and attach it.
