I have a linksys wireless a+g broadband router. how do I get it to work with my home computer with dsl?
already have called bellsouth and got family networking. Laptop works hardwired but not with the wireless router. Followed direction, but still not working
The short answer is run the CD that came with the router and follow the directions.
Some simple troubleshooting techniques.
1. Leave all cables plugged in and unplug the router’s and modem’s power plugs. Plug them back in. This clears all the address settings and causes each to get a new IP address.
2. Check to make sure the wireless modem is enabled on the laptop.
3. Check to make sure that dynamic ip addressing (DHCP) is enabled on the laptop. To check this go to Start->Settings->Network Connections-> and Right-Click on Wireless Settings. Select Properties. Highlight TCP/IP from the list and click the “Propterties” button. Make sure “Obtain IP Address Automatically” is selected.
4. Right click on the little wireless Icon in your system tray. Select repair. This will simply disable and re-enable your wireless connection and hopefully grab a valid IP Address.
