linksys wireless router http 192

I’m going to buy a Linksys Router and was wondering about the set up?

I’m going to buy a Linksys Router but I was wondering if I could use the internet right after only conecting everything together without going into http://192.168.1.1 or do I have to go to that website in order to use the internet with the router.
Also if I could just login to http://192.168.1.1/ and just change my password. Without doing anything else.
The reason I’m asking these question is because I’m going to buy a MacBook and wanted wireless internet on my MacBook and a friend of mine told me that a Linksys Router would get me wireless on my MacBook without upgrading my service to a higher price. Only by connecting the router to my pc and my internet modem. (it doesn’t have wireless)

Yes, it’s that simple! Plug it in and go!

Your only problem is you will be sharing wireless internet with your neighbors (since your settings will be all default), so if you are in a giving mood, go for it.

You don’t have to lock your router down if you don’t have time to get into all that security stuff, but atleast log into it and set your DHCP to release only 2 IP’s or assign static IP’s to your pc’s.

I would recommend setting up WEP though.
