Wireless router problem please help!?
I have a WRT54GS V 7.2 linksys wireless router. I don’t have the Installation CD. And when i try to set it up to send out internet i can connect to it on my laptop but it wont let me connect to a web page it also won’t let me get on the internet if i use an ethernet cable either. How do i fix this? like i said i don’t have the installation CD but idk if you need that. Has anyone else had this problem?
Try this page:
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=20603
It shows how to set up a wired connection under Windows 7. The default IP for most Linksys routers and this series in particular is this:
192.168.1.1
The default user name and password are both ‘admin’. Both should be changed as soon as possible and this can be done without needing to be connected to your ISP or the internet.
You may well have to make changes to the default settings. You might try the ‘Hell’ desk at your ISP to assist on this. Patience is your best friend if you try this.
This page has the available info and downloads for your router:

A deeper dig and I find that the version 7.2 router is flashable for DD-WRT. This is well beyond what you have asked for but I am so amazed at this that I had to put this info out for others.
Good luck.
BTW a proud and happy owner of a WRT54G V.2.0 since 2001.
