Cannot connect w/ linksys wireless router?

Hi, I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I am haveing some problems with it. I am unable to connect with my laptop and my computer (w/ wireless adaptor.) I have WPA-personal with TKIP. I typed my routers IP address into the address bar on the land-line computer and all the settings on the router match the ones I am entering onto my laptop.

when I go to network connections and enable it, it becomes enabled but the icon says that it’s not connected.

please help me.

Thank you.
ps-
i can connect with my PSP and my XBOX.

On my computer that I can’t connect with, there are blanks for My Default Gateway, DNS Server, and WINS Server.

Is DHCP turned on in your wireless router? Vice Versa – does your laptop have an IP address DIFFERENT from the IP Subnet of your wireless router?

First I would check to see if DHCP is enable on your router. After you are confident it is, reboot your laptop and check to see what IP address it is using. If it is 192.168.1.XXX then you can move on to the next troubleshooting step.

I would also recommend you disable the encryption feature and the other security options to see where the problem is.

Make sure you don’t have MAC filtering enabled on your router and don’t have the MAC address of your laptop in there. It drove me crazy one time and I forgot I had that enabled hehehe.

Also, if you live in a large community, and there are many wireless networks being broadcast, make sure your SSID is set to something UNIQUE other than “LINKSYS.”
