mac- enabling wired network adapter?
I am trying to install a Linksys wireless router on my macbook pro. Right now, I use a Verizon internet card. When I enter the Set-up wizard for the linksys, it says it can’t detect the wired adapter. How can I enable it?
Let me see if I can understand your question.
You’re currently using a Verizon Wireless mobile (cellular) broadband card for internet. This has nothing to do with either WIFI or wired home networking, so we’ll put that aside. In fact, close the Verizon software and remove the card to just narrow down potential conflicts and problems.
As far as enabling wired networking on a Mac, you have to do literally nothing other than plug an ethernet patch cable between your router and your mac. Done. If there’s a problem, it’s most likely with your router or modem. Unplug and replug both of them and double check their connections and settings.
To turn on wireless (WIFI) networking on the Mac, there’s a thing in the top right of the screen (left of the clock) that looks like a pizza slice (quarter circle etc). Right click on that and enable if it is not already enabled, then pick the network you want to connect to and enter a password if you need one.
