How I can create a home network with …

I have a small home network so that I can share files and printer. This is the equipment I have:-iMac with Mac OS X 10.4 "HP Laptop with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium HP Photosmart C5280 Printer, Linksys (WRT54G) Wireless Router-Tons of extras cat5 cables (Ethernet cable) My iMac is a desktop, the main computer that has the printer connected directly too him. I have the software on both Mac and PC files be opened in both patforms. I basically want to be able to transfer files between two computers, and print from the laptop when connected to the network. Does anyone have a real good tutorial or know where I can get one?

Let's see if I can give you a mini tour here: In the Linksys router, assign your Mac a static IP address and your Mac to change the NIC settings (IP LAN) to it. On your Mac, share the printer and folders and files to be transferred to one side another of your laptop. You can also assign permissions, but it easy at first. You can use the wireless network on your laptop when traveling across home and when you want speed to transfer files to your Mac, simply plug an Ethernet cable. DHCP settings will be fine for your HP Laptop, so it should not having to do anything with it. Add your printer, but go through the wizard and use the network printer option. This should be easy for you, just remember the address Static IP address assigned to your Mac, that's what you will use to configure the network printer. In Vista Home Premium, comes with an interface discovery network. You can even use it to access your folder / file and printer on your mac. Apart from configuring the router for security access and that's all you need to do for a configuration basic. Hope this helps, good luck
