How can I test if my wireless router (WRT54G by Linksys) is working before connecting it to the cable modem?
I would like to find out if my router works properly (assigning IP, etc…) before hooking it up to anything. I can hook it up to the power and my PC right now. It’s a long story, so if you can, please answer the question.
I’m just going to assume you’ve followed directions but you can’t get the internet but do find the router on your wireless (local network only). Reset your modem. Make sure if it has a backup battery to unplug that too or it will not reset. It will be on the side or under the modem. I’ve found this is the biggest problem with cable modems.
