How I can get my laptop to work with Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G?
I installed my router to my home computer and managed a network name and a router password. When I try to access it through a laptop, says the network security key provided does not match the key for this network. My intuition is that it is buying the wrong type of router or my computer has once again tried to make my limited knowledge I go crazy.
No WEP and WPA security. (Actually you should be using MAC address filtering, no security, but that is another story.) If the router is configured to a type of security and equipment for the other guy, is like speaking French to Russian – will not understand each other. Make sure you are using the same type of security both (in http://192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp). Http: / / 192.168.1.1/Wireless_MAC.asp or connect to activate and configure it to only allow the presence, click Edit MAC filter list, and enter the MAC (hardware) addresses of all computers that you allow to use your wireless connection. (Start / Run – type cmd and hit OK. Type ipconfig / all and press Enter. The hardware address is the one you want. Do that on each computer and go in all directions. Then save the configuration of the filter lists and on the web. (And disable security.) You bought the type of router – I would not buy anything but to Linksys, and I quite a few wireless routers support.
