linksys wireless router not working properly
can not find my linksys wireless g broadband router on a new laptop?

i have today bought a new laptop and i can not see or pick up any wireless networks available in my home or area even after refreshing them also, but have been back to the tech guys and they got wireless connections up straight away in there shop, i have got onto my wireless router but i dont understand it and the wireless router home page on the new computer doesnt seem to load up properly it has missing bits on the screen even though my other laptops seem to be working fine and when i load the wireless router page on them it loads up properly i have also disconnected the other laptops to rule out conflictions also and the only way i have internet is through a cable now does anyone have any ideas i have connected laptops before but this seems different .

If you can get onto another computer wirelessly then the router is not the problem it is your computer.

Can you see a small monitor on the task bar (bottom of the screen on the right hand side. It is likely that this monitor has a red cross next to it. Please tell me if this monitor is there and whether it has a red cross next to it or green wireless lines.

One other point, you have switched the wireless card on on your new laptop. There should be a switch that will either be on the front (near the screen) or at the front of the computer. Failing this look for blue FN key and a blue wireless symbol. To turn the card on with this you have to press the blue FN at the same time as the blue wireless button. The screen will then say card is enabled or disabled. You cannot receive wireless signals without the card enabled.

If this is not the poblem, post again and I will try to help you further.
