Can my Linksys Wireless-B router work on my friends laptop?
I’m planning to send my wireless B router to her so that she can wire it to her laptop to set it up,but her laptop has windows vista home premium. will that be a problem even if its wired with an ethernet cable? She wants to use it for her itouch.
B and G are both compatible with eachother. It will just go back to the slowest speed. The problem is, B cards typically don’t have WPA. It might have WPA with TKIP. WPA with TKIP is ok, WPA with AES is the best. However, I would say most B cards only have WEP. WEP is no good. Make sure you know how to setup WPA in your router and on your computer.
