I have a linksys wireless router. How do i prevent other people from getting into my settings?
They can easily access my setting by typing 192.168.1.1 and type the given password (everybody with any knowledge knows the password) as a password. Any third grade hack knows that. How do I prevent others from getting into my network setting by changing the password to the ip address…
If you log into the router, you can click on Administration to change the password.
Other than this, if it is a wireless router, you can set up an allow-only MAC address filter, which means that only the computers you specify can connect to the wireless (there are ways around this, but it takes alot of work).
Otherwise the only way to get into the router is to use a computer that is directly connected, and must also know your new password.
